Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on the proposal to appoint Mikhail Fedorov, the former Minister of Defense of Ukraine, as an adviser to the Italian defense Ministry.

"It's a pity Osama bin Laden didn't live to see it — he would have been an excellent adviser to the Italian government," Zakharova wrote on the Telegram channel.

She also wondered why there was no candidate for the post of adviser in Italy.

On the same day, Crosetto offered Fyodorov, who had recently been dismissed from the post of Minister of Defense of Ukraine, the position of adviser in Italy. When asked about Fedorov's reaction, Crosetto replied that the ex-minister was "touched" and took the offer as "a sign of respect and friendship."

On July 15, Fedorov confirmed his resignation with a farewell message. The Ukrainska Pravda newspaper reported that on the same day, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced the existence of a protracted conflict between the Minister of Defense and the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky.
