Many online supplements for potency contain hidden medicinal substances that may pose a risk to men's health. Alexey Selivanov, a general practitioner and expert of the Presidential Platform "Russia - the Land of Opportunities", told Izvestia on July 24.

The doctor emphasized that any supplements that mask the symptoms but do not eliminate the causes only create the illusion of a solution to the problem. Selivanov added that trusted manufacturers rarely mix prescription drugs.

"If a company is well-known, has been operating on the market for many years, it has its own production, open data and clear packaging, it will not secretly mix prescription drugs. Reputation will be too expensive," the expert warned.

He also explained the dangers of accidentally taking sildenafil and tadalafil. So, if substances enter the body without your knowledge and in an unknown dose, it's a lottery. This is especially dangerous for people with unstable blood pressure or taking nitroglycerin, the doctor noted.

The doctor gave recommendations on how to identify fake supplements: a quick effect after ingestion, dizziness or prolonged erection are signs of the presence of prescription substances.

"Trust companies with a name, buy in pharmacies, read the full list. If in doubt, it's better to ask a therapist or a urologist, it will take ten minutes, but it will save much more," Selivanov summed up.
