Ex-British Ambassador called the abolition of Russian culture madness

On July 24, former British Ambassador to Uzbekistan (2002-2004), Scottish political activist Craig Murray spoke sharply about attempts to abolish Russian culture in the West.

He drew attention to the fact that in the recent past, concerts with works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky had been cancelled in the West.

"It was absolutely crazy. It seems to have stopped now, and I haven't seen anything like it lately. But Russia is a fundamental part of European culture. Tchaikovsky, (Nikolai. — Ed.) Roman‑Korsakov, (Dmitry. — Ed.) Shostakovich and (Fyodor. Dostoevsky is not some minor part of European culture. They are an integral part of it," Murray said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
