Rospotrebnadzor reported a sufficient supply of flu vaccines.
The supply of domestic flu vaccines in the new epidemic season will be sufficient for the vaccination campaign. This was announced on July 23 by the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova.
"Our Russian manufacturers are preparing a sufficient supply of Russian flu vaccines, both trivalent and quadrivalent. <...> The volume will be quite sufficient," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
As Popova pointed out, vaccination will be carried out at the expense of the federal budget. The necessary funding has already been provided without cuts, and the cost of drugs has not changed.
First of all, vaccinations will be given to children, pensioners and people with chronic diseases, said the head of Rospotrebnadzor. The priority group will also include specialists who, by virtue of their profession, are in contact with a large number of people.
Popova recommended getting vaccinated against the flu starting in September. According to her, Rospotrebnadzor is closely monitoring the situation in the world against the background of epidemiological complications in some countries of the Southern Hemisphere.
Olga Tkacheva, a freelance geriatrician at the Russian Ministry of Health, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said on July 21 that vaccines against pneumococcus and influenza can not only reduce the risk of infection, but even prolong life, as they can slow down the aging process, which is especially important for the elderly. The specialist explained that any infectious processes are a very strong inflammation, which in turn helps to accelerate the aging of the entire body.
