Chinese hybrid sedan sets a Guinness World Record
The Geely Galaxy A7 EM car has set a Guinness World record for driving range, showing the best result among production sedans with a plug-in hybrid powerplant. This is stated in the message of the Chinese manufacturer, which was received by Izvestia on July 22.
The sedan managed to travel 2,608.36 km without refueling or recharging the traction battery, which is more than 200 km higher than the previous range in the class of hybrid sedans. The Galaxy A7 EM traveled from the city of Shangri-La in Dechen Tibetan Autonomous Region to the metropolis of Guangzhou in the Pearl River Delta. The trip lasted five days, the route included mountain serpentines, expressways and busy city streets. The trip was observed by representatives of the Guinness Book of Records.
The car is equipped with a plug—in hybrid system EM AI Super Hybrid 2.0. It contains a gasoline internal combustion engine, which, according to Geely, has the highest level of thermal efficiency among all production cars in the world - 47.26%. The internal combustion engine is combined with a hybrid transmission, the energy efficiency of which is 93.1%. Artificial intelligence algorithms are also used in the power plant control system, which can reduce fuel consumption by 15%.
The capacity of the Aegis Golden Brick traction battery is 28.3 kWh, and its full charge lasts for 235 km of electric travel. The battery supports 75 kW DC fast charging, and it can replenish energy from 30 to 80% in 15 minutes. Earlier, according to the test results, the battery withstood the penetration of the hull with eight steel needles, deformation, shot and moving by a tank weighing 36 tons.
Earlier, on July 20, Autostat reported that over the past three weeks, sales of new electric vehicles and hybrids in Russia have almost doubled — by 83%.
