Most of the targets were neutralized by air defense forces on long-range approaches, 85 drones were destroyed on approach to Moscow. Resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced his final retirement from this position. At the briefing, he announced that he was submitting his resignation to King Charles III. The monarch accepted the resignation during a personal audience at Buckingham Palace. Starmer said he was "passing the baton" to the new leader of the Labour Party, Andy Burnham, and expressed his support for him.

The outgoing prime minister noted that in 6.5 years at the head of the party, he managed to bring it out of crisis after losing the 2019 elections and lead it to victory in 2024. Starmer called on the British people to remain united and thanked his family, colleagues and citizens. He spent two years and 15 days in office, ranking 43rd among all prime ministers in the history of the state. The Royal press Service has confirmed that Charles III has accepted his resignation.

Negotiations between the Foreign Ministers of Russia and the DPRK

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks in Moscow with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee. Lavrov said that the decisions taken by Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the summit in Pyongyang in June 2024 are being systematically implemented.

The foreign ministers held the third round of the strategic dialogue. The sides called the irresponsible behavior of the United States and its allies the main reason for the deterioration of the situation on the Korean peninsula and in the world.

The Ministers stressed that the deepening of the strategic partnership between Moscow and Pyongyang serves as a counterweight to American provocations and contributes to strengthening international security. They confirmed their readiness to jointly build a new multipolar world order.

Putin's meeting with the Governor of the Zaporizhia region

The Governor of the Zaporizhia region, Yevgeny Balitsky, reported to Putin on the situation in the region. He said that the R-280 Novorossiya highway, connecting Rostov-on-Don with Crimea through new regions, is under the full control of the Russian military. Balitsky noted that the issue of protecting the region's energy facilities from UAVs remains acute: they are under control, but the authorities will request additional federal support.

The head of the region announced the death of Alexander Yakovlev, chief engineer of the nuclear power plant, on July 15 as a result of a drone strike, which exacerbated the security issue. Balitsky also invited the president to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Berdyansk in 2026, Putin supported the initiative.
