One in four Russians (25%) plans to buy a second car in the next one to two years, and another 4% already have at least two cars, but are thinking about expanding their fleet. This is stated in a study by Avito Avto and Avito Advertising, which Izvestia reviewed on July 22. Experts interviewed 10,000 respondents.

According to the survey results, the highest proportion of potential buyers among respondents aged 25 to 34 years: 37% of respondents plan to purchase another car in the next one to two years. At the age of 18-24, the figure is 36%, and among Russians over 65, it is 12%.

Among those who already own several cars, as well as among potential buyers of another car, almost half (46%) choose a used car. Another 43% are focused on a new car, while the rest are ready to consider both options. At the same time, among those who definitely intend to buy a second car, interest in new cars is higher: 50% of respondents consider them, while used cars — 40%.

Most often, a family needs another car so that its members can move independently of each other, 52% of respondents said. Another 24% would like to buy a car of a different class or with a different body type. One in five (20%) needs a car for specific tasks, such as transportation, trips to the country or construction sites. Another 18% choose "weekend transport" — for travel, outdoor recreation and other things.

Most often, an all-terrain vehicle or a budget model for everyday needs is considered as a second car: 31% of respondents chose each of these options. This is followed by minivans, electric cars or hybrids (9% each), as well as premium or status cars (6%).

On average, Russians are willing to spend about 2.2 million rubles on a purchase. More than half of the respondents (54%) rely on a budget of up to 2 million rubles.: 28% expect to meet 1 million, and 26% expect to spend from 1 million to 2 million rubles. One in five (20%) allocates from 2 million to 3 million rubles, 14% — from 3 million to 5 million, and 8% are ready to allocate more than 5 million rubles. Online advertising is one of the main factors of choice for 20%, while another 34% consider advertising offers, but make the final decision based on other characteristics.

Earlier, on July 20, the expert said that if the current sales rates are maintained by the end of July, the Russian car market may show a result slightly lower than in June, when 116.3 thousand new passenger cars were sold.
