Yaroshik, a blogger, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for drug trafficking in the Moscow region.

A court in the Moscow Region has sentenced blogger Veronika Yaroshik to 13 years in prison for selling drugs on an especially large scale. This was announced on July 20 by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

The defendant was found guilty of seven crimes. Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal transfer of narcotic drugs by an organized group on an especially large scale, illegal sale of narcotic drugs using information and telecommunication networks by an organized group on an especially large scale"), as well as Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code and Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code ("An attempt on the illegal sale of narcotic drugs on an especially large scale").

The court found that the blogger acted as part of an organized criminal group (OCG), where she had the role of "sender". After receiving instructions from her supervisors, she received large shipments of the drug mephedrone from hiding places in the Moscow region.

"For conspiracy purposes, Yaroshik purchased household appliances, packaged narcotic drugs in them and sent them to other members of the organized group in various regions of the country under the guise of legal goods," the prosecutor's office website says.

The blogger received 13 years in prison, and she will serve her sentence in a general regime penal colony.

On July 16, the Nikulinsky court of Moscow decided to impose an administrative fine of 80 thousand rubles to the musical performer Ptakha (real name — David Nuriev) in the case of drug propaganda. The protocol was drawn up in accordance with Article 6.13, Part 3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Propaganda of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances using the Internet").
