AvtoVAZ announced the start date of sales of the updated Lada Niva Legend

The updated Lada Niva Legend SUV will go on sale in August this year. The company's press service announced this in its Telegram channel on July 20.

In total, the car has more than 350 new and upgraded parts and assemblies. The SUV received a 1.8-liter eight-valve engine (90 hp), previously introduced on the Niva Travel. The motor is characterized by increased traction: the maximum torque has increased by 24 Nm, and 80% of the torque is reached at 1000 rpm. The new engine is more economical: in mixed mode, the average fuel consumption decreased from 9.9 to 9 liters per 100 km.

For the first time, body elements made of galvanized rolled steel have been introduced on a classic SUV, a front-mounted driver's airbag has appeared for the first time, and new ventilated front brake discs have been installed. The Niva received a new transmission and transfer case drive: the transmission lever is closer to the driver, the transfer case switching mechanism has become single-lever. To improve the vibration comfort, the transfer case received a third fulcrum, and powertrain supports like those of the Niva Travel also appeared.

Other improvements include a new engine cooling system, an interior filter and an air intake lining on the hood, a central lock and a single key for the doors and ignition lock, and original two—tone 16-inch wheel rims.

Production of the updated Niva Legend SUV started on July 20. Dmitry Kostromin, Vice president of Sales and marketing at AVTOVAZ, told Izvestia that the cost of the model will change slightly after the update.
