Bees are dying en masse in the Krasnoyarsk Territory
A mass death of bees was recorded in the area of the village of Mezhevo and the village of Bolshaya Murta in the Bolshemurtinsko-Sukhobuzimsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The Rosselkhoznadzor has launched an investigation into the incident.
The regional department of the department received two complaints, which were signed by eight people. All of them are engaged in beekeeping. Specialists are conducting a survey of the land plots that are adjacent to the apiaries. It is possible that the crops were treated with chemical preparations. Experts take samples of soil and plants in order to determine the residual content of pesticides in them.
FGIS Saturn is also analyzing the data to find out whether the crop farms have warned beekeepers that they intend to treat the fields with chemicals in the near future, writes KrasnoyarskMedia news agency.
In April, the Federal Scientific Center for Beekeeping reported that in Russia there has been a decline in the number of bee populations in recent decades. According to the center, the situation is of concern to both scientists and beekeepers. Among the main reasons are climatic changes leading to abnormal weather conditions, as well as the active use of agrochemicals. Experts stressed that herbicides and insecticides of high hazard classes, which have a toxic effect on bee colonies, pose a particular threat.
