The domestic economy is facing a near-stagflationary situation. This was stated on July 20 by Dmitry Belousov, head of the department of analysis and forecasting of macroeconomic processes at the Center for Macroeconomic Analysis and Short-term Forecasting (CMAKP), in the report "Etude 2. Inflation and anti-inflationary policy."

According to the Vedomosti newspaper, the report notes that the combination of a high debt burden and local monopolism of a number of companies leads to the absence of a slowdown in inflation when the Central Bank's key rate changes.

According to Belousov, with the existing economic model in Russia, two factors remain in it at the same time: one is not sensitive to the current monetary policy, and the second provokes a shortage of demand.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the Russian economy stable on July 16, which, according to him, became noticeable against the background of the "deplorable situation" in the world. He acknowledged that the growth themes have indeed been recognized as insufficient so far, but on the whole they show the stability of the state. Justifying the unfavorable economic situation in the world, Peskov clarified that it is due to the consequences of conflicts, including in the Middle East.
