Russia has temporarily restricted the import of apricots and peaches from Turkey

Russia has imposed a temporary restriction on the import of apricots and peaches from five exporters from Turkey. This was reported on the Rosselkhoznadzor website on July 16.

"Rosselkhoznadzor <... Introduces temporary restrictions on the import of stone products from five Turkish exporters to Russia. The decision was made in connection with the systematic identification of quarantine [requirements] for the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union," the agency said in a statement.

It is noted that the measures will take effect on July 18 of this year. This step was taken in accordance with Article VII of the International Plant Quarantine and Protection Convention and taking into account Federal Law No. 206-FZ "On Plant Quarantine".

It has not yet been specified which exporters will be affected by this innovation.

On June 11, the Rosselkhoznadzor restricted the import of all quarantined products that entered the country from Armenia. Among other things, the transit of relevant goods through the Russian Federation to the states of the Eurasian Economic Union was prohibited. The agency explained such steps by the lack of trust in the system of phytosanitary certification of a foreign supplier.
