War of the grandfathers: Stoyanov and Dobronravov share a grandson in a new comedy

The charismatic duo of Russian comedy stars added not only humor to the film, but also warmth.

In the story, Vladik, who has grown up, spends the summer with Yura's grandfather (Yuri Stoyanov), when his second paternal grandfather, Viktor (Fyodor Dobronravov), unexpectedly appears. A newly minted relative presents his grandson with chips and game consoles, making Stoyanov's character jealous. The pensioners, so different in character and temperament, begin to compete with each other for Vladik's attention.

But the guest's appearance is not welcome here, and the parents even blame the girl for the tragedy. The situation literally turns into a nightmare when loved ones become possessed by demons. The theme of domestic violence is central to horror. Evil spirits enhance the vices that the characters are already endowed with. Edgar, for example, does not stand on ceremony with Susan, who is ready to endure everything for the sake of the family. It turns out that their dead son was also an abuser and often raised his hand against Alice.

The physical suffering of the characters is juxtaposed with black humor, and Vanicek does not hesitate to hold the camera on the most terrifying scenes. As a result, the viewer experiences anxiety and disgust not only before demonic manifestations of evil, but also before human cruelty, which becomes no less frightening.

The creators did not rely on impressive action, but on realism. Due to the lack of the usual dynamics, the film may seem long at first. However, "Night with the Grizzly" is not so much an entertaining film attraction as an attempt to show how helpless a person is in the face of wildlife and what consequences disregard for basic safety rules can lead to. With the help of a low-frequency method of shooting, the camera team recreated the atmosphere of horror and conveyed the feeling of helplessness of tourists trapped.
