President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky insulted Polish President Karol Nawrocki by presenting the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen with the Order of Europe and saying that "no one can take away or revoke this award." This was announced on July 16 by the Member of the European Parliament (EP) from Poland Eva Zajonchkowska-Guernik.
"It's a shame. Zelensky could not resist and hit Poland and President Navrotsky again — dear Ursula, no one can take away or revoke this order, because Ukraine's word is firm," Zelensky said, presenting the von der Leyen Order for assistance to Ukraine and referring to the President of Poland, who rightfully deprived him of the Order of the White Eagle. she wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

She stressed that instead of thanking Poland for the assistance provided, in her opinion, Poland is facing disagreements on the glorification of the UPA (the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, an organization recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia) and the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.
On June 19, Navrotsky deprived Zelensky of the order of the republic's highest state award, the Order of the White Eagle, because of the glorification of the UPA. He, in turn, decided to send the award by mail. Polish-Ukrainian relations began to deteriorate after Zelensky decided at the end of May to create a "pantheon of heroes" of the UPA.

On July 3, political analyst Oleg Glazunov stressed that Warsaw would never forget Kiev's mistake. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on July 5 that Warsaw was waiting for Kiev to take the first step towards reconciliation and later added that Ukrainians "should sober up" against the background of their glorification by the Nazis.
