The State Duma warned about habitual actions leading to legal problems
Some habitual and seemingly harmless actions can lead to undesirable consequences. For example, many people post photos of neighbors, other people's cars with license plates, or found documents to house chats in order to warn others or find the owner, but this is not acceptable in all cases. Boris Chernyshov, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma, said this on Thursday, July 16.
"If such a publication violates a person's right to an image, leads to the dissemination of his personal data, or is accompanied by unfounded accusations, the dispute may end in court proceedings," he warned in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
The parliamentarian warned that negative reviews should be carefully written on the Internet. For example, public accusations of fraud, theft, or other violations by a person or company that are not confirmed can lead to legal action.
Chernyshov noted that some people give their phone to a stranger "for a minute to call," but if the person turns out to be a fraud, they can gain access to messages, confirmation codes, or other data stored on the device during this time.
"It's definitely not worth handing over an unlocked phone to strangers," the deputy stressed.
He also warned that it is better not to throw away old contracts, bank statements, copies of documents or receipts, as they may contain personal data and other information that fraudsters can use.
Ilya Vasilchuk, a trial lawyer and an expert on the security of electronic transactions, said on June 17 that the law does not prohibit photographing people in public places, as long as it does not violate the right to privacy and the person is not the main subject of photography. According to the expert, in case of misuse of the images, a citizen may demand their removal and compensation for moral damage.
In turn, the editor-in-chief of the analytical publication Runet, Vladimir Zykov, in an interview with RT, warned about possible threats when posting personal information on social networks and messengers. According to the expert, it is not necessary to publish photos of documents such as passport, SNILS, INN, driver's license and bank cards, as this may help fraudsters in their activities. 360.ru .
