The new Lada model has successfully passed a series of crash tests within the framework of certification. This was reported on July 16 by the press service of AVTOVAZ.

According to the company, the test results showed that Azimut meets national passive safety requirements by a significant margin.

The frontal impact on the deformable barrier with overlap was carried out at a speed of 56 km/h, as prescribed by the current UN Regulation No. R94.
Recordings from high-speed video cameras showed timely and complete deployment of the frontal airbags. The sensors of the dummies recorded the minimum and absolutely safe values in the "green" zone.

The side impact was carried out at a speed of 50 km/h with a trolley with a deformable barrier fixed on it according to UN Regulation No. R95.

Thanks to the side safety curtain, which was used on Lada cars for the first time, the driver's head load criterion remained in the "green" zone with a large margin.

AvtoVAZ announced on July 14 that the Volga Automobile Plant is launching a new generation of 1.6 and 1.8 liter engines. The new engines will be used for the Azimut crossover, as well as for Lada Iskra and Lada Vesta models. The 1.6 engine now develops 120 hp and 154 Nm of torque compared to 106 hp and 148 Nm earlier. The 1.8 engine produces 135 hp and 175 Nm of torque compared to 122 hp and 170 Nm earlier.
