In the countries of the European Union (EU), the sale of tourist trips to Russia, as well as the promotion of the country as a vacation destination, is completely banned under sanctions. Alexandri Guerreiro, an analyst and lawyer from Portugal, told about this on July 16.

He noted that it is also forbidden to display banners advertising trips to the Russian Federation to tourists on the streets. EU residents wishing to travel to Russia have to plan their trip on their own.

"All tour operators and all websites associated with travel agencies are prohibited not only from offering commercial services, but also from promoting Russia as a tourist destination among citizens in the European Union," RIA Novosti quoted Guerreiro as saying.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko reported on April 18 that Russia had no plans to close its borders to Europeans, despite stricter rules for issuing Schengen visas to Russians. The diplomat pointed out that the Russian Federation is interested in establishing communication, tourism, business and humanitarian ties with citizens of European countries.
