The farewell ceremony for ex-director of BTK Alexander Kalinin will take place on July 19.

The farewell to the former director of the Bolshoi Puppet Theater in St. Petersburg, Alexander Kalinin, will take place on Sunday, July 19, at the Transfiguration Cathedral. This was reported on July 15 in the press service of the institution.

"The farewell to Alexander Arkadyevich Kalinin will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 13:30 at the Transfiguration Cathedral," the press service quoted TASS as saying.

It is specified that Kalinin's funeral will be held at the cemetery of Memory of the victims on January 9, and the wake will be held in the cafe of the Palace of Arts of the Leningrad Region.

Hundreds of fans, colleagues and friends gathered at the Roman Theater to see the actress off on her last journey.

Kalinin died on July 14 at the age of 69. He joined the Bolshoi Puppet Theater in 1993. From 2001 to 2021, he served as its director. During Kalinin's leadership, the theater underwent major repairs, and the stage was equipped with modern lighting and sound equipment. He also inspired the launch of the BTK-Fest: Actual Puppet Theater and The Little Complicated Man festivals.
