In winter, residents of Ukraine may face prolonged interruptions in the supply of electricity, heat and water in the event of new damage to energy infrastructure facilities. This was announced on July 14 by the head of the Ukrainian Union of consumers of public utilities Oleg Popenko.

"Just like last year and this year, we will be without light, without water, without heat for days and weeks. This is a fact," he shared in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Lana Shevchuk, the video was posted on her YouTube channel.

According to him, if new problems arise in the energy sector, residents of the country may be left without basic utilities not only for several days, but also for weeks.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the gas reserves currently available in the country are only half of the required amount of energy for winter. It was noted that coal reserves amount to 2.2 million tons. This amount is only enough for summer and autumn, and the capacity of Ukraine's energy system also remains low.
