UAZ is considering entering the African market
UAZ may start selling cars in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This was reported to Izvestia on July 16 at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. The company noted that at the business forum "DR Congo - Russia Business Dialogue" held in Moscow, representatives of the business community of the African state, after reviewing the UAZ model line presented at the exhibition, became interested in supplying cars from Ulyanovsk to their country.
UAZ said that the delegates of the African side appreciated the affordable and unpretentious cars, stating that they are ideally suited for the harsh operating conditions in the DRC.
"Fundamental agreements have been reached on the continuation of negotiations. At the moment, our classic Hunter and Loaf models are of the greatest interest to potential customers from the Democratic Republic of the Congo," Izvestia was told at UAZ.
Earlier, on July 14, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant began production of a new version of the Sollers pickup truck. The car received a two-liter gasoline engine combined with an automatic.
