Relatives of Anatoly Zaslavsky named cancer as the cause of his death.
The cause of death of the Soviet and Russian artist Anatoly Zaslavsky was cancer. His relatives told about it on July 15.
"Anatoly Savelyevich had cancer for a long time. He was gradually fading away," the artist's entourage said in an interview with TASS.
According to the agency's interlocutors, Zaslavsky, despite feeling unwell, was engaged in painting until the last moment and did not stop working.
Zaslavsky's death at the age of 87 became known on the same day. The St. Petersburg Union of Artists called the incident an irreparable loss for the entire artistic community of the city.
Born in 1939 in Kiev, Zaslavsky graduated from the Kiev Art School and the Mukhinsky College in Leningrad with a degree in monumental painting. Since 1977, he has been a member of the SPbSH Monumental Art Section.
The artist's works are kept in the Russian Museum, the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, the Museum of Theatrical and Musical Art, as well as in museums in Perm, Petrozavodsk, Khabarovsk, Astrakhan, Kazan, Murmansk and in private collections.
