Over the past day, 322 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 13 people were killed and 379 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on July 15 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 60 accidents involving pedestrians, three people were killed, and 58 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 16 children, two of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings, and 14 more were outside their area of operation. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 19 occurred at pedestrian crossings, 41 outside their area of operation.

13 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 13 more road users, including one minor, required medical attention. Five bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers. In addition, over the past day, 60 accidents involving minors were registered on the roads of Russia, as a result of which 64 young road users were injured, including 25 child passengers and seven motor transport drivers. There are no dead children.

The State Traffic Inspectorate calls on all road users to respect each other and strictly follow the rules of the road. Drivers need to choose a safe speed, maintain distance and lateral spacing, reduce speed in advance before pedestrian crossings and intersections, avoid risky maneuvers and constantly monitor the road situation. Pedestrians should cross the roadway only in designated places, making sure that drivers have noticed them and provide an advantage, as well as not be distracted by mobile devices when crossing the road, the department notes.

"Mutual politeness, attention and respect for each other are just as important safety conditions as compliance with traffic regulations. It is the responsible behavior of each road user that makes it possible to prevent tragedies and save human lives," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
