Zakharova commented on the proposal to rename Ukraine to Russia

On July 15, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova ironically stated that if Ukraine is proposed to be renamed Russia, then it turns out that the Kiev regime has already abandoned the term "Ukrainians" and now considers itself "Russians."

"So the Kiev regime has already abandoned the Ukrov? Are they Russians now?" she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The reason for the comment was a statement by former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Boris Tarasyuk that if the country was renamed, Russia could be the most appropriate name. According to him, this option is connected with the history of Kievan Rus.
