The United States sharply increased purchases of tea from Russia in May 2026
In May, the United States increased tea imports from Russia to $154 thousand, which was the highest since 2021, when it amounted to $180.4 thousand. The results of the July 15 calculation are published by RIA Novosti, citing data from the American statistical Service.
Compared to April 2026 ($7.3 thousand), purchases from Moscow increased 22-fold.
Despite the growth, the share of Russian tea in the total imports of the United States still remains less than 1%. The main suppliers of tea to the United States in May were Japan ($23 million), India ($4.9 million) and Argentina ($4.4 million).
Yesterday it became known that in May, the United States increased purchases of sweet soda from Russia to a record $ 491.5 thousand. The import of sugary carbonated drinks from the Russian Federation increased 3.4 times compared to April, when it was imported by $144.9 thousand. The purchase amount has reached a historic high since 2003.
