The State Duma called for speeding up payments to passengers for cancelled flights
Airfare refunds for cancelled flights must be made within a maximum of two days. This was announced on July 15 by the leader of the Fair Russia party, Sergei Mironov.
"It is important to solve the problem of a quick refund for tickets in the event of a massive delay or cancellation of flights. Our faction proposes to reduce this period to one or two days so that people have money to buy tickets for another flight or other modes of transport," Mironov said in an interview with TASS.
The deputy also pointed out the need to abolish dynamic pricing during periods of massive disruptions in air traffic. He explained that the existing system automatically increases the cost of flights with a sharp increase in demand, which is unacceptable in crisis situations.
On July 14, Kaplan Panes, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes, said that many travelers perceive travel insurance as a formality necessary only for applying for a visa, but in reality the policy can save tens of thousands of rubles, and in difficult situations literally save lives. According to Panes, if the flight is delayed by more than six hours, the insurance will compensate for the cost of meals, and if the flight is delayed by 12 hours, hotel accommodation will also be provided.
