Dmitry Bakanov, Chairman of the United Russia Party Council for Innovation and technological development, head of Roscosmos, said on July 13 that the Russian Space Agency and NASA had agreed to continue operating the International Space Station (ISS) until 2030.

"We have agreed on three main things. The first is to extend the joint work of the ISS until 2030," he said at a press conference held after the docking of the Soyuz MS-29 manned spacecraft with the ISS.

Bakanov also noted that Roscosmos and NASA intend to strengthen the coordination of their satellite groups in order to minimize the risk of collisions in orbit. According to him, the American side came up with such an initiative, proposing to establish closer cooperation between the space agencies.

The head of the state corporation stressed that there are hundreds of spacecraft in the Russian orbital group, while foreign partners already have thousands of them.

The day before, the head of Roscosmos and the head of NASA, Jared Isaakman, held a meeting at the Baikonur cosmodrome. The state corporation clarified that Isaakman's visit was the first visit to Baikonur by the head of the American aerospace Agency in eight years.

Following his working meeting with the head of NASA on July 14, the secretariat of First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov reported that Russia and the United States have developed a joint program that involves completing the flight of the International Space Station at the end of 2030.

The rocket carrying the Soyuz MS-29 manned spacecraft launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on July 14 and headed for the ISS. The expedition will last 261 days. During this time, the specialists will conduct 38 scientific experiments and go into outer space twice.
