ON Media Holding, together with Sputnik Radio, the Media Corporation of China (CMG) and the Izvestia TV channel, presents a new educational project "Good Neighbors", dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between Russia and China. This is a series of short video stories about how the partnership between Moscow and Beijing can already affect everyone.

The Treaty on Good—Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China is a historical document that was signed in Moscow on July 16, 2001 by Russian President Vladimir Putin and then-President of the People's Republic of China Jiang Zemin. This document laid the legal foundation for strategic partnership and set priorities for trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation.

The Good Neighbors project talks about specific areas of strategic partnership, the importance of this cooperation for the two states, their citizens and the world as a whole.

The hosts of the "Good Neighbors" project were Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Tatyana Golikova, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova and First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Andrei Denisov.

Matvienko noted that the Treaty on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China has consolidated the desire of states to live in peace, respect each other's choice and path, develop equal partnership and look to the future with trust. According to her, for Russia and China, good neighborliness is part of the long history of two great civilizations that live side by side, strive to understand each other, have common interests and meet the challenges of the time together.

"For our states, the Treaty has become a solid foundation for comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation. He helped to form relations based on mutual respect for sovereignty, consideration of national interests and responsibility for the development of our countries. It is also of particular importance that our friendship serves the cause of peace. In modern politics, where there is so much turbulence, distrust and attempts to divide the state into friends and foes, the example of Russia and China convincingly shows that international relations can and should be based on equality," the Federation Council speaker added.

Matvienko stressed that when citizens get to know each other better, Russian schoolchildren learn Chinese, and Chinese students discover Russian culture, friendship becomes alive. It ceases to be an abstract concept and turns into a genuine human connection.

Viewers will learn what will be included in the program of the two countries' cross-educational Years, when Russia and China will fly to the moon together, how they create joint films and how to quickly get from Blagoveshchensk to Heihe. Each issue of the video podcast is dedicated to a specific area of partnership between Moscow and Beijing. Filming took place in the Russian and Chinese capitals.

"We are used to hearing that Russia and China are strategic partners. But what is behind this in everyday life? We hope that the project will help a wide audience to learn more about the history and current content of Russian-Chinese cooperation. "Good Neighbors is an example of how an educational media project can unite government institutions, the largest mass media in Russia and China, and modern digital formats," said Sofya Mitrofanova, CEO of ON Media Holding.

"The Good Neighbors project reflects the full breadth of Russian-Chinese cooperation. In it, we revealed how interstate relations are for the benefit of our citizens," said Wang Bin, Head of the Eurasian Bureau of the Media Corporation of China.

The project was implemented with the support of the Russian Historical Society and the Russian Military Historical Society, which provided expert support for the historical component of the materials.

The premiere of the video podcast in Russian will take place on July 16 simultaneously on the educational portal "Chronicles of Time" of ON Media Holding, on the federal broadcast and social networks of Sputnik Radio, as well as on the digital resources of the Media Corporation of China and the Izvestia TV channel.

The podcast will be translated into Chinese for subsequent release in China.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 5 that Russia has equal relations with China and other partners. The Russian leader also called the cooperation between Moscow and Beijing very close and mutually beneficial.

Vice President of the People's Republic of China Han Zheng, in turn, noted that the joint cooperation between China and Russia is steadily growing. The development of Russian-Chinese relations and the deepening of ties in all areas really contribute to the development of each of the two countries, he noted.
