Mobile networks in the Middle East have been repeatedly targeted by cyber attacks aimed at tracking the location of American personnel and contractors during the war with Iran. This was reported on July 14 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, citing data from telecommunications companies and sources.

According to the publication, regional networks reflected a wave of SS7 requests aimed at determining the location of roaming phones. Cybersecurity experts pointed to a coordinated campaign. Officials in the Persian Gulf suspected Iran or its allies of using roaming agreements to spy on Americans.

In April, the US Central Command informed Congress of numerous threats related to the use of commercial location data by the enemy. The data shows signs of activity related to the Iranian telecom operator.

The Financial Times reported on March 3 that the assassination of Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei became possible due to information from surveillance cameras that Israeli intelligence hacked many years ago. According to the newspaper, Israeli intelligence hacked traffic surveillance cameras in Tehran. The images from the cameras were encrypted and sent to servers located in Tel Aviv.

Israeli Mossad intelligence and special forces units conducted a ground operation in Iran on the night of Tuesday, March 3. The Fars news agency reported on the same day that the United States and Israel struck near the building of the Iranian State Television and Radio Company in Tehran.
