Polish fighter jets were scrambled due to a Russian Il-20 aircraft flying over the Baltic Sea. This was announced on July 14 by the head of the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh.

According to the minister, the Russian plane was flying in an international zone. Kosinyak-Kamysh clarified that, according to Warsaw, the IL-20 was in the air 30 km from the Polish coast.

"A couple of our fighters on duty intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft," RMF24 radio quoted him as saying.

On July 6, the British Ministry of Defense announced that a Russian Tu-142 patrol aircraft allegedly approached an aircraft carrier strike group of the British Navy in the Norwegian Sea and dropped sonar buoys. According to the agency, the naval aviation aircraft flew "unreasonably close" to the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales and did not respond to international security signals.
