Most banking fees for individuals must be abolished in order to increase competition between credit institutions. This was announced on July 14 by Sergei Mironov, chairman of the Fair Russia — For Truth party.

"It is necessary to abolish commissions — then banks will be more active in fighting for customers, offering people more favorable conditions," he said in a conversation with TASS.

According to the parliamentarian, earlier the faction had already introduced a bill on the abolition of the so-called bank roaming, which provides for the waiver of most commissions for individuals. Mironov also proposed to cancel the commission for replenishing the mobile phone balance and for withdrawing cash from ATMs of other banks.

In addition, the MP called for the abolition of fees for interbank transfers, at least between close relatives. He recalled that the relevant bill had also previously been introduced by the faction.

Anatoly Aksakov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, said on March 25 that a network of "white" ATMs could be created in Russia, which would allow citizens to receive financial services without commission. He called the initiative a good idea, adding that such an innovation would also benefit banks, which would be able to save money on installing their own ATMs.
