Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway has been discharged from Oslo Central Hospital after a lung transplant. This was reported on July 14 by the German agency DPA, citing a message from the Norwegian royal house.

The 52-year—old patient's condition is "as good as can be expected under the circumstances," the statement said.

The operation took place in mid-June. The representative of the hospital, Are Holm, noted that over the next six months the patient will undergo physical rehabilitation under the supervision of doctors, and with a favorable development of events, stabilization of the condition is expected in about a year. Her husband, Crown Prince Haakon, said he was relieved to see the progress in treatment.

Mette-Marit thanked the relatives and staff of the hospital, as well as people who become organ donors. The royal house clarified that during the rehabilitation period, the Crown Princess will not participate in official events.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway underwent a successful lung transplant on June 17. Then the patient continued to recover after the intervention of doctors. The need for transplantation against the background of the chronic illness of the Crown Princess of Norway was reported back in December last year. It is known that 52-year-old Mette—Marit has chronic pulmonary fibrosis. She was diagnosed with the disease back in 2018.
