Sollers began production of a pickup truck with a new engine
The Sollers ST8 pickup truck has received a new turbo engine combined with an automatic. This was reported by the company's press service on July 14.
The Russian-built ST8 pickups received a new 2-liter gasoline engine with recoil (224 hp and 390 Nm). It is paired with a classic 8-speed automatic, and the transmission and engine are already being installed on the older ST9 model.
The new version will complement the ST8 range of units, which is already equipped with a 2.4 turbo engine (204 hp and 320 Nm) and a 2-liter turbodiesel (138 hp and 320 Nm) — all paired with a 6-speed "mechanics".
The integration of the new powertrain and transmission required special refinement of the floor panel and engine compartment of the ST8. Such pickups in the "Luxury" and "Premium" trim levels will be available at dealerships in August 2026.
The Sollers ST8 is assembled using full-cycle technology with stamping, welding and painting at the Sollers New Technology Park at the UAZ industrial site. The localization level provides for the use of a number of domestic elements, including Russian galvanized metal for the manufacture of body parts, safety components and control units.
Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) announced on June 25 that it was conducting certification tests of the updated Patriot SUV. Specialists are testing the model at the landfill for compliance with the requirements of active, passive and environmental safety, and testing is in full swing, the company said.
