The Hungarian Defense Ministry announced its intention to "close the doors" to Russia
Hungary intends to close the door to Russia. This was announced on July 14 by the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Defense Romulusz Rusin-Sendy.
According to the minister, Budapest needs to restore trust with its allies.
"As for Russia, we are closing the door to it," Telex quoted him as saying.
He added that the new Hungarian government should take into account the interests and values of both Hungary and its allies.
At the same time, on July 10, Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban said that Budapest was striving for pragmatic relations with Moscow as an important part of the European region. The diplomat also noted that Hungary still intends to adhere to the policy of refusing to supply weapons to Ukraine.
On June 4, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that Russia would draw conclusions about Hungary's position on specific steps and decisions of its leadership. She expressed the hope that Budapest will make decisions based on its responsibility to its citizens and the national interests of the country.
