- Lavrov and the Foreign Minister of Chad signed an agreement on the introduction of a visa-free regime for diplomats.
Russia has signed an agreement with Chad on visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic passports. The signatures were signed on July 14 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his counterpart from the African Republic, Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Russian Foreign Minister noted that Moscow is committed to continuing joint work between the two countries, and Fadul's visit will contribute to this goal. Lavrov called the signing of the document on visa-free travel an important practical step to strengthen the foundations for regular contacts.
"We confirmed the mutual commitment of our countries <...> to strengthen the traditionally friendly bilateral relations, which from the very beginning were based on mutual trust and mutual respect," he said.
At the end of the conversation and the signing ceremony, the Russian Foreign Minister said that the talks with the delegation of Chad had been very eventful and useful. The parties discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly touching upon trade, economic and investment spheres.
"There is something to work on here, because this area significantly lags behind the good, friendly level of our political dialogue and humanitarian cooperation. And we exchanged specific ideas on what areas can be used to stimulate the efforts of our companies in Russia and Chad. And among such areas, special attention was paid to geological exploration, energy, fertilizer production and healthcare," Lavrov said.
On July 8, Lavrov announced that significant progress had been made between the Russian Federation and the countries of the Confederation of Sahel States (ACS) in integrating and forming a new regional security architecture under the auspices of the alliance. He noted that cooperation between Russia and the AGS (Mali Niger and Burkina Faso) will give an additional impetus to strengthening the sovereignty of the countries, as well as expanding bilateral and multilateral ties in the format.
