The Malaysian authorities expect to launch direct flights to Russia as soon as possible, provided that the ongoing negotiations are successfully completed. This was announced on July 14 at the Embassy of the South Asian state in Moscow.

"At this stage, discussions are still underway at the commercial and technical levels. We sincerely hope for their successful completion, which will allow us to launch direct flights between Malaysia and Russia as soon as possible," RIA Novosti quoted the diplomatic mission as saying.

The embassy did not specify whether plans to launch flight programs remain in place until the end of 2026. At the same time, the diplomats stressed the country's interest in developing transport accessibility to strengthen humanitarian ties.

On July 2, the first direct flight from Tanzania to Russia landed at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport. The plane arrived in the Russian capital at 08:58 Moscow time from Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania. The flight was operated by Air Tanzania. 123 passengers were on board, said Dmitry Khlopushin, Deputy director of the Department of State Policy in the field of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.
