One person died as a result of a shooting involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in the US state of Maine. This was announced on July 13 by the Speaker of the State House of Representatives, Ryan Fecteau.

"There was a shooting in Biddeford this morning. One person died. The US Immigration and Customs Police participated in the incident," he wrote on Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in Russia).

Fecteau added that the incident is being investigated by the Department of Public Safety, the Attorney General's Office and the state Police.

The Politico newspaper reported on June 26 that the administration of US President Donald Trump filed a petition with the Supreme Court demanding that its new policy of mandatory detention of illegal migrants who have been living in the country for many years be recognized as legitimate. Earlier, lower federal courts issued more than 9.3 thousand decisions against this initiative, classifying it as a gross violation of constitutional rights and the law.
