The volume of passenger car sales fell by 16 in a week %
The market of new passenger cars in Russia decreased by 16.2% by the end of the week. This was announced on July 13 by Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat agency.
According to the expert, after a short period of high sales, the market returned to the average figures of the first half of the year. Despite the weekly decline, registrations increased by 7.1% compared to the same week last year.
"Last week, the car market decreased by 16.2%. And this is a bad signal. After two weeks of "high sales," the car market returned to the usual averages of the year," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
According to Tselikov, the commercial transport segment is also experiencing a decline. Sales of light commercial vehicles decreased by 10% to 1,338 units, while truck sales fell by 15.6% to 1,010 units. In annual terms, the decline in these segments was 19.2% and 6.6%, respectively.
Alexey Kalitsev, Chairman of the Automobile Manufacturers Committee of the Association of European Businesses, said on July 3 that the Russian car market had shown moderate growth in the first half of 2026, but there were no prerequisites for a rapid large-scale market recovery. He noted that the situation in the Russian car market remains unpredictable and sensitive to changes in macroeconomics and regulatory policy. The Committee maintained its forecast for the market volume in 2026 at the level of 1.4 million cars sold.
