596 road accidents occurred in Russia over the weekend
In Russia, 596 road accidents occurred over the weekend (July 11-12), in which 49 people were killed and 789 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on July 13 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
25 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, 41 more road users, including six children, required medical assistance. Ten bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers. So, in the Republic of Tatarstan, on the 32nd km of the Kuzaikino -Nurlat highway, a bus driver carrying 45 passengers left the roadway and overturned. Nine bus passengers were injured in the incident and were hospitalized.
As a result of 99 accidents involving pedestrians, 32 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 67 outside their area of operation, seven people were killed, and 95 more pedestrians were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 22 child pedestrians, 13 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
In addition, 108 accidents involving minors were registered on Russian roads over the weekend, as a result of which 117 young road users were injured, including 54 passengers and 22 motor transport drivers. Two children died. So, in the Chelyabinsk region, at night on the 9th km of the Chernovskoye- Ustinovo — border with the Republic of Bashkortostan highway, a sixteen—year-old driver of an unregistered Ural motorcycle with a side trailer, who did not have a driver's license, allowed his fifteen-year-old passenger, who was without a motorcycle helmet, to fall. After the accident, the teenager driving the motorcycle fled the scene, but was subsequently identified by police officers. As a result of a car accident, a minor passenger died.
Another fatal accident involving a child occurred in the Sverdlovsk region. In Nizhny Tagil, a truck driver hit a three-year-old girl who was riding a bicycle unaccompanied along the roadway in the same direction. The child died from his injuries.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds bus drivers that the life and health of passengers completely depend on their professionalism, experience, well-being and compliance with traffic rules. Before starting a work shift, it is necessary to be rested and healthy, as well as carefully check the technical condition of the bus before leaving the route. When transporting passengers, you should strictly observe the speed limit and traffic regulations, the department emphasizes.
During the summer holidays, the State Traffic Inspectorate urges parents to pay special attention to the safety of children and constantly monitor their leisure time.
"It is necessary to exclude the possibility of minors accessing the keys to cars and motorcycles, categorically prohibit driving without a proper driver's license and driving skills, and not to leave young children unattended near the roadway. The lack of parental control often becomes one of the causes of tragedies on the roads," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The day before, it became known that in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a driver hit two people and fled the scene of an accident. During the operational measures, the police identified the motorist.: it turned out that he had committed the accident while intoxicated.
