The main candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine after Yulia Sviridenko's resignation from this post is the head of Naftogaz Ukraine, Sergey Koretsky. This was reported on July 12 by the Ukrainian edition "Страна.иа ".

"The most likely candidate for the post of prime minister is <...> Koretsky," the Telegram channel said.

It was noted that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had already held talks with Koretsky, during which he discussed the new challenges facing the country.

The publication clarified that the candidate for prime minister of Ukraine was "introduced into the circle" of Zelensky in 2022 in order to manage the Ukrnafta oil company. Subsequently, they decided to put him in the place of Alexei Chernyshov, who at that time headed Naftogaz.

Sviridenko's resignation became known on the same day. Zelensky, who reported this, said that he wanted to change the entire composition of the government of Ukraine, and at that time give its head a different position. Sviridenko, who left the post, said she was "honored" to lead the government during what was supposedly the most difficult period in Ukraine's modern history and added that she was ready to continue serving it.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, commenting on the incident, said that now the Ukrainian ex-prime minister can go to the United States as an ambassador. Currently, Ukraine's ambassador to the United States is Olga Stefanyshyna. Zheleznyak said that replacing her with Sviridenko would be a "somewhat forced step," although "logical."
