Russians have been warned about common mistakes after being bitten by a tick

Natalia Kolomiets, a doctor at the DNCOM laboratory, a general practitioner, and a pediatrician, spoke on Friday, July 10, about common mistakes after a tick bite.

According to the expert, after a bite, many people focus on their well-being and do nothing if there is no fever, weakness or characteristic redness around the area of contact with the insect.

The doctor warned that in the early stages, some diseases that these bloodsuckers carry may occur without pronounced symptoms, and called this approach wrong.

"Another common mistake is the incorrect removal of the tick. You can not use oil, cream or other liquids, pull it, and then throw it away," she said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

The doctor added that often, when trying to remove an insect, people tear off part of it, and in this case the second part of the head remains in the body.

Kolomiets stressed that the most informative in the first days after the bite is considered to be the examination of the tick itself by PCR, which allows to determine the presence of pathogens of the most common tick-borne infections, according to the website. kp.ru .

The first signs of a tick-borne infection may not appear immediately, so even if a person has some symptoms within two weeks after sucking on an insect, even a banal acute respiratory viral infection, this may be the onset of the disease, the doctor said.
