The state traffic Inspectorate will conduct mass checks of drivers on the weekend
On Friday and the weekend (July 10-12), traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the country's roads, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The raids were announced by the regional departments of the department.
Measures to prevent and combat cases of driving under the influence of alcohol will be held in the Lipetsk, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Samara, Kaluga regions, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and other regions of the country.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reminds motorists and motorcyclists about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. Continuous checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who have got behind the wheel after drinking alcohol are carried out by traffic police on an ongoing basis.
The department urges citizens who have witnessed how a drunk person gets behind the wheel of a car or motorcycle, behaves inappropriately or creates dangerous situations on the road, to report this to the police. Traffic police inspectors will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports, the State Traffic Inspectorate noted.
"Driving under the influence of alcohol is a gross violation of traffic regulations, which leads to the most serious consequences. Do not risk your life, the lives of your passengers and other road users by driving while intoxicated. Refuse to travel after drinking alcohol, even in minimal quantities," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
He recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, according to current legislation, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a fine of 30 thousand rubles. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these actions, Belan stressed.
Earlier in the day, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate reported that in the capital for the first half of 2026, the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication decreased by 25.9%. The death toll decreased by 8.3%, and the number of injured decreased by 27.2%.
