Insurers warned about a gradual rise in the price of CTP policies
The new procedure for the formation of the average cost of car repair parts for CTP and changes to the calculation method will enter into force on July 11, 2026. This was announced on July 10 by the press service of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA).
The new rules for determining CTP repair costs will begin to be applied when updating the RSA directories from September 19.
According to the instructions of the Bank of Russia, now when determining the average cost of a spare part, the prices of its analogues will not be taken into account if they are 70% or more cheaper than the original. The average cost of consumables will be determined without discounts.
Accounting for the cost of single-use items such as seals and stickers will also change. The cost of such parts will be included in the cost of repairs in full.
The innovations will lead to an increase in the average CTP payment by 8-10% and a gradual increase in the price of policies, the RSA expects.
"For individual brands of machines where spare parts are supplied in a more complex way, a significant part of the low prices for non-original spare parts will be cut off. For such details, there may be an increase in the average cost even by 30-40%," said Evgeny Ufimtsev, President of the RSA.
On July 2, Sergei Mironov, chairman of the Fair Russia party, addressed Elvira Nabiullina, head of the Bank of Russia, with a proposal to reduce the cost of CTP for motorcyclists. As the party leader noted, motorcycles are used seasonally, in most regions no more than four to five months a year. In addition, according to statistics, motorcyclists get into accidents less often than other vehicles, he said.
