Liksutov spoke about the work to improve tram traffic in Moscow

In Moscow, work continues to improve tram traffic, said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry.

"We continue to make trips for residents of the capital fast and comfortable on behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin as part of the Transport Development Strategy until 2030. Among other things, we are improving tram traffic so that citizens have as many alternative routes as possible. For example, we isolate tram tracks and make high platforms flush with the floor of the car for convenient boarding and disembarking of passengers," Liksutov said.

For example, the specialists of the Research Institute "MosTransProekt" have developed a scheme of transport services on Durova Street. Here, the tram tracks were separated from the highway. As a result, the movement of trams became faster by 50%. Previously, cars rode on rails, which caused them to wear out faster, and the movement of trams was delayed.

Safety islands were also set up so that pedestrians could comfortably wait for the permitted traffic light signal in the middle of the road. In addition, there is an unregulated exit from Durov Street to the right and an adjustable left turn for convenient passage of the intersection. Previously, it was only possible to turn right from Durov Street to Olympic Avenue, giving way to vehicles going straight ahead. This caused congestion, and the need to use neighboring intersections for left turns increased travel time.

Thanks to the measures taken, traffic along the street has become more organized and safer, the Department of Transport emphasized.
