The number of "drunk" accidents in Moscow has decreased by a quarter since the beginning of the year.

According to the results of the first half of the year, the number of accidents on the roads of the capital involving drivers with signs of intoxication decreased by 25.9%. This was announced on July 10 in the Maks messenger by the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate. In six months, 103 such accidents occurred in the capital, in which 11 people were killed and 139 injured, the ministry said.

"According to the results of the first six months of 2026, there has been a decrease in the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication by 25.9%. The number of people killed and injured in road accidents caused by drunk drivers also decreased by 8.3% and 27.2%, respectively," the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate said in a statement.

The agency reminds that for driving under the influence of alcohol, a driver can be deprived of his license for 1.5-2 years. In addition, he faces a fine of 45 thousand rubles. Repeated drunk driving is criminalized: from a fine of 200 thousand rubles to imprisonment for up to two years.
