The most popular cities for weekend summer trips are named
Every fifth booking for the summer is for weekend trips. This was reported to Izvestia on July 14 by analysts of the online hotel and apartment booking service Ostrovok. According to the company, in July and August, trips from Friday or Saturday to Sunday account for 20% of all bookings in Russia.
Experts noted that short trips are becoming a popular alternative to a full-fledged vacation. According to Irina Kozlova, managing director of the Ostrovok service, tourists are increasingly choosing not only city hotels, but also country complexes, glamping and spa hotels with outdoor pools to combine excursions with recreation.
Among the most convenient destinations for short trips from Moscow, analysts have identified cities that can be reached by high-speed trains or commuter trains in just a few hours. Tver remains one of the most popular options. The journey takes about an hour and a half. In summer, tourists are attracted by walks along the Volga embankment, visits to the Imperial Travel Palace, the city garden, the historical center and river walks. The average cost of a booked night in July and August is 5.1 thousand rubles.
It will take about two hours to get to Vladimir. Travelers come here for the monuments of white stone architecture, including the Golden Gate, the Assumption and Dmitrievsky Cathedrals, as well as for walks through the Patriarchal Garden and observation decks overlooking the Klyazma floodplain. The average cost of a night is 5.6 thousand rubles.
Ryazan remains another popular destination, which can be reached in two to three hours. Tourists visit the Ryazan Kremlin, museums, the historical center, as well as the Sergei Yesenin Museum Reserve in the village of Konstantinovo. The average cost of living here is 4.5 thousand rubles per night.
Experts recommend Yaroslavl for lovers of routes along the Golden Ring. The trip will take about three hours. Guests are attracted by the historical center, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the Volga Embankment, ancient temples, merchant architecture, craft shops and local gastronomic projects. For families with children, river walks and the Golden Ring Mock-up Museum are of interest. The average cost of a night is 5,9 thousand rubles.
The most remote destination in the selection was Nizhny Novgorod, which can be reached by high-speed train in about four hours. Tourists come here for the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street, Chkalovskaya Stairs and panoramas at the confluence of the Volga and Oka rivers. In summer, the city hosts the Sunset Capital Festival, open-air film screenings, and other cultural events. The average cost of accommodation is 7,4 thousand rubles per night.
Kaliningrad topped the ranking of the most popular domestic travel destinations, while Istanbul became the leader among foreign routes.
