Russia and China held the coastal part of the "Maritime Interaction – 2026" exercise

The coastal stage of the Russian-Chinese naval exercise "Maritime Interaction - 2026" took place in the port of Qingdao in the People's Republic of China (PRC). During the event, ship commanders and staff officers conducted the planning of the naval phase of the exercise on maps, and the crews of the Russian Navy and the Naval Forces of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) exchanged experiences. This was announced on July 9 by the press service of the Pacific Fleet.

Chinese military personnel visited the Varyag Guards missile cruiser, where they got acquainted with its history and strike weapons capabilities. Sports and cultural events were also held as part of the coastal part of the exercise. The Russian and Chinese military took part in basketball matches, one of which was held as part of mixed international teams.

The exercise "Maritime Interaction – 2026" started on July 6. A detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet consisting of the Varyag Guards cruiser, the Sharp corvette, the Ufa diesel-electric submarine and the Igor Belousov rescue vessel arrived at the port of Qingdao to participate in it.

On the Chinese side, the Anshan and Kaifeng destroyers, the Wuhu frigate, the Yuan-class diesel-electric submarine, the Kekesili-hu universal supply transport and the Yangchenghu rescue vessel will participate in the maneuvers.

The main events of the exercise will be held in the waters of the Yellow Sea. The crews of the Russian Navy and PLA Navy ships, with the support of naval aviation, will work out joint rescue operations, anti-submarine tasks, air defense actions and conduct artillery firing. One of the stages will be training on assistance and rescue of the crew of a conditionally emergency submarine using an underwater vehicle.

The general wave: the Russian Federation and China began exercises with drones and submarines

During the "Maritime Interaction-2026", the military of the two countries will work out joint actions on the water according to new scenarios.

On January 27, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun stated the importance of maintaining contacts with the Russian defense ministry against the backdrop of the changing international situation. According to him, cooperation between Beijing and Moscow is timely, and China is ready to work with Russia to participate in ensuring global security.
