The decision of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) to lift all restrictions on Russian national teams is a breath of fresh air for Russian athletes. Olympic volleyball champion Sergey Tetyukhin told Izvestia about this on July 8.

"Everyone is happy <...> it's a big breath of air for all of us <...> It's a big moment for the fans. We are returning to world sport again," he said.

Tetyukhin noted that justice should have prevailed, and expressed confidence that Russian athletes, who had been accumulating energy all this time, would be able to show their abilities at international competitions.

Earlier that day, the International Volleyball Federation lifted all restrictions on the Russian national teams. It was noted that the issue of using the Russian flag, anthem and other identification methods will be further decided by the FIVB and the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV).

The day before, the International Olympic Committee temporarily suspended sanctions against Russian athletes. The organization's Executive Committee has fully restored the status of the Russian Olympic Committee, lifting all previous restrictions on international cooperation.
