US President Donald Trump really wants Moscow and Washington to remain partners and be friends. This was announced on July 8 by RT's editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan.

"I believe that President Trump really sincerely wants two great countries, the United States and Russia, to be true friends and partners. That's my point of view," she said in an interview with Swiss journalist Roger Keppel.

The American leader, Simonyan added, also seeks to maintain good relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Recalling the last telephone conversation between the leaders, she said that their communication was very polite and optimistic.

At the same time, the pace of communication has noticeably decreased, the Foreign Ministry acknowledged.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said a day earlier that the head of the White House prefers to solve problems through negotiations, which Moscow welcomes. At the same time, he pointed to the relatively good dialogue that had been established between Russia and the United States.
