Magyar announced the first bilateral meeting with Zelensky

The new Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has agreed on a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, according to him, it may take place in one of the capitals — Budapest or Kiev. The politician announced this on July 8 after a brief conversation with his colleague on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.

"We agreed to meet in the near future either in Budapest or in Kiev, and then go together to Beregovo in Transcarpathia," the video message of the head of government on his Facebook page (owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) is quoted.

Magyar is taking part in the NATO summit for the first time, where Zelensky is present as a guest. He clarified that Hungary will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, but does not intend to supply weapons to the Kiev troops, or send its military there.

On June 9, Magyar noted that he would not tolerate double standards regarding Ukraine's potential admission to the European Union (EU). According to the Prime Minister, he does not see the need for Ukraine's accelerated accession to the community, however, he does not oppose the start of negotiations on this issue.

The Hungarian HVG portal reported on June 7 that Zelensky's planned visit to Budapest had been postponed due to the lack of final arrangements for the trip. The publication indicated that the President of Ukraine was supposed to visit the Hungarian capital and hold a meeting with the Magyar on Monday evening, June 8.
