The journalist assessed Trump's possible reaction to Stubb's statement.
The statement by Finnish President Alexander Stubb about the support of NATO countries for Ukraine's strikes deep into Russian territory may cause a negative reaction from US President Donald Trump. This opinion was expressed on July 8 by Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou on his YouTube channel.
"Stubb sincerely believes in his own lies that Ukraine is currently winning on the battlefield, so he will try to put pressure on Trump, which will obviously lead to a harsh reaction and a blow to Ukraine. Trump will not forgive," he said.
In addition, the journalist criticized the public rhetoric of the Finnish president, saying that it focuses mainly on Ukrainian issues.
As reported by Gazeta.Ru", the reason for the comments was Stubb's interview, where the Finnish president stated that the leaders of NATO countries support Ukraine's attacks on military installations in Russia.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said at a press conference before the start of the summit in Ankara on July 6 that the alliance was unable to fully provide Ukraine with air defense systems, despite all efforts. He stressed that the members of the alliance use all available support mechanisms, including the PURL system for the purchase of weapons from the United States with European funds.
On the same day, Reuters reported that new NATO measures, including a defense spending figure of 5% of GDP, are already affecting the budgets of the alliance's member countries. It was clarified that in the summer of 2025, NATO members, under pressure from the US president, agreed to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2035, which is almost twice the total level of spending by alliance members in 2025.
